You Can Be A Giant KIller Too!
You Can be a Giant Killer Too!
Several years ago, I was preparing my typical Sunday sermon when I found myself struggling with task. The fact was that I just didn’t know what to preach. It was approximately 3:30 in the morning when I felt the Lord say to me preach on David and Goliath.
I argued with the Lord that I had preached that sermon before and perhaps I should have a more challenging sermon. However, I should have remembered the cardinal rule that no one fights or argues with God and wins. The Lord gently began to speak to me. He said, “this day I am going to give rhema into this story”. “This will be fresh bread for my people”
For many years’ preachers and Sunday - school teachers of every denomination have taught on the story of David and Goliath. They have taught that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but, mighty in God for the pulling down stronghold”. And over forty years of ministry I am still waiting to hear what these weapons are. The Lord brought this scripture to my remembrance.
2 Corinthian 10:4-5 (NKJV)
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,~
The account of David and Goliath is not just merely story; it is a practical illustration on spiritual warfare. In the Biblical account we see some very interesting spiritual principals.
David’s faith was developed while taking care of his fathers’ sheep. So that when the occasion surfaced David was ready to face this challenge.
When David tried on King Saul’s armor we see that the armor didn’t fit. David said,” It hasn’t been proven in battle.”
Why did David pick-up five (5) stones and not just one (1) if he was such a man of faith? We see that Goliath had four (4) brothers that we bigger than he was.
As a result of David’s faith, we see God’s provision was released. When God created the earth, He knew that David was going to need those stones. So when God said “earth be!” God had already seen through the corridor of time David’s need. These stones were the provision for that need. At the same time God new that those stones also had a destiny. So He Provided David. David was the provision for the stones.
Without the 5 stones David could not fulfill his destiny. And without David the stones could not fulfill their destiny.
As you read this book, I trust that it will help you to develop into a giant killer. I know that as a giant killer you will take back that which the enemy has illegally taken from you.
